In the end our fears about the weather were unfounded and the day was pretty much perfect!

We had planned something different for Executive Offices Group this year which involved some 'pre-event' participation, a non-disclosure of where the event was actually being held and a surprise murder mystery thrown in along the way!

In order to integrate teamwork and to encourage interaction between colleagues who are based in different geographical locations, we devised a pre-event team challenge which was conducted by e-mail over 5 weeks. Each team had to answer a series of questions within a given timeframe in order to amass points pre-event. These points were then carried forward to the event day challenges.

Guests were only told the event date, departure point and time (and only a hint of where they might be going). Some of the 200 guests boarded coaches at Berkley Square in London whilst others made their way to the Theatre Royal in Windsor which was the overall meeting point.

At 09.45 all guests boarded river boats and headed up stream to their staff day location - Queens Eyot island in the Thames.

Upon arrival staff were greeted by the extrodinary Lord Bernard and his equally eccentric family who welcomed them to the island. After an early morning start guests enjoyed refrshment before beginning the EOG Awards ceremony.

With the sun still shining the first of the day's entertainments began...with the introduction of one of the UK's foremost mindreaders Marc Paul who within 40 minutes had convinced even the most sceptical of guests that there was more to mind reading than they thought!!!!!

As guests enjoyed pre lunch Pimms a terrible scream was heard and then the awful realisation that there had been.....A Murder most foul! Lord Bernard it appeared had been killed, but by whom and why? This therefore became the team's second challenge to discover the identity of the murderer or murderers!

After careful questioning of all the suspects and of course further glasses of Pimms the teams re-assembled too reveal their conclusions. A winning team was declared and after further Pimms, Croquet, Badminton and other quintessentially English pastimes it was time for the guests to depart having enjoyed a great day out by the river! Peter Allport the CEO summed up the event just two days later by writing

"I just wanted to thank you and your team for oganising a superb event on Saturday. Judging by the e-mails we have received, our objective of providing an enjoyable get together in a wonderful setting, principally to reward our staff for their commitment and hard work, was well and truly met." he went on to add

"We look forward to working with you again soon and to hearing your ideas for next Summer's event!
