hmv Conference and Awards

The Mulberry Group worked with existing client hmv to devise, manage and execute their recent Senior Managers' conference and Awards ceremony.

Held at the Palace hotel, an intensive programme was packed into a very hectic 24 hour period with delegates attending break-out sessions as well as the Store Managers' awards in the evening. Due to the nature of the event, rehearsals were of course crucial to ensure the smooth running and 'live' delivery and in a departure from previous programme's, the conference opening by CEO Simon Fox was followed by a series of product and news presentations delivered by the main board directors in different parts of the building. We think this variation made the content delivery mechanic more interesting for delegates but of course added another dimension for the production teams in terms of synchronised planning and final exection.

After the presentation sessions, a short period of leisure time was followed by what delegates thought was the call to begin the awards ceremony when in fact they were treated to a surprise performance from the phenominal Duffy who sang Mercy and Warwick Avenue, a perfect way to start the evening !

After dinner the audience were entertained further by Russell Howard, star of BBC's Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo before he handed over to Operations Director Neil Taylor who compared the awards ceremony.

The awards recognised personal achievments by store managers and also outstanding team efforts by colleagues at stores themselves.

Just as the guests thought this stunning evening was coming to a close, a final surprise was unveilled in the form of local Manchester band The Courteeners

who played live for 50 minutes, taking the show through into the early hours!
