hmv’s new flagship store in the Northwest of the country, situated in the very heart of Liverpool’s latest retail development, Liverpool One, opened on the 4th October with the help of a few ‘friends’ that included: The Feeling, Gomez and Natty.
Before the official launch, the main store windows were uncovered to reveal a magnificent photograph of the legendary Beatles taking pride of place within this stunning location.
Despite the somewhat inclement weather, the show went ahead as planned with Radio City broadcasting in store, interviewing awaiting members of the public before The Feeling came out to greet the crowds. Having chatted with members of the public and taken their photo-call with hmv’s very own Nipper, they began the count-down and pressed the ‘fire’ button which launched pyrotechnics from the roof and rigging surrounding the entrance doors and causing the giant banner to drop to floor to officially declare the store open!
After a controlled entrance, the crowd was treated to an amazing in-store set with three numbers being played after which the band took time to sign autographs, copies of their latest album and T shirts.
The rain continued to fall all morning but spirits were not dampened in the least as more crowds gathered for the appearance of Gomez early in the afternoon for another impromptu three number set with crowd pleasing signings and photo opportunities afterwards.
The weather changed dramatically for the last live appearance of the day and late into the afternoon Natty arrived in store to rapturous applause and gave a stunning live performance followed by signings and photos with the public.
A number of guest appearances are planned over the next two weeks and the store is ready to welcome all visitors.
